Pastor Joseph Obayemi has been a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), and was on Saturday, January 7, appointed as the new General Overseer of the Church.
Prior to his appointment as the new General Overseer of the Church by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, Obayemi was a deputy in charge of Finance and a member of governing council in the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG).

He laid the foundation of Lagos province 28 extension of the church’s temporary place of worship on March 26th 2015.
Obayemi was promoted alongside others in August 2016, to the position of Assistant General Overseer, hence, his appointment to lead the Redeemed Christian Church Of God Nigeria.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Saturday, said Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye remains the General Overseer Worldwide of the church while Pastor Joseph Obayemi is the head of the Nigeria church.
A statement issued by Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and Personal Assistant, stated that the announcement of a new overseer in Nigeria was made in compliance with the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs, which stipulates that heads of non-profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations while in retirement.
The statement noted that such heads are not permitted to hand over to their families, adding that Pastor Funsho Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church Treasurer.
Adeboye advised all members of RCCG to “understand this new structure and go about their service to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning”.
“We appeal to members to educate people around them and not spread inaccurate information stressing that Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide”. Adeboye added.
