Boitumelo Thulo, also known as “Boity”, is a South African actress who rose to fame as the presenter of SABC 1s educational programme, The Media Career Guide, she currently stars Mzansi Magic’s Rockville as Mpho Bogatsu and co-hosts e.tv Club 808 with Cyprian Ndlovu. Boitumelo Thulo was born in Potchefstroom in the North West province of South Africa.
She was raised there by her grandmother, this is according to an article on Rolling Stuff website. However in the website of SABC 3 Expresso she referred to her grandparents rather than her grandmother and in the article on the Previdar website she states that she was raised by her grandparents – her mother is Modiehi Thulo.
Boitumelo Thulo started and finished primary school Potchefstroom.
She then went to Potchefstroom High School for Girls and later matriculated there.
Boitumelo Thulo later enrolled at Monash University where where she did first and second year towards a Psychology and Criminology degree.

In a January 2012 interview with Fana the Purp website she revealed that her experience in the entertainment industry was a 2008 music video.
“In 2008, a very good friend of mine asked me to be in his music video. I was very reluctant but I decided to go ahead with it,” Boitumelo Thulo was quoted by Fana the Purp website.
Boitumelo Thulo first became recognizable for a Wimpy (fast food chain) “cheesanator” television advertisement.
In 2010 she made a guest appearance as Lindi on e.tv’s drama series, 4play: Sex Tips for Girls.
In October 2011 Boitumelo Thulo began presenting SABC 1’s new educational show, The Media Career Guide (MCG), alongside Stevie French. The show gave the insight into careers within the media industry.
Prominence, 2012 – to date
In May 2012 Boitumelo Thulo co-hosted a short-lived SABC 1 interactive multi-platform user-generated magazine show, Zoned, with Mpumi Mbethe. After the first season ended the South African Broadcasting Corporation did not renew the show and Zoned the did return for the second season.
Also in 2012 she was featured as a guest judge on SABC 1 dance competition show, Turn It Out: Street Battle; acted on SABC 1’s weekly educational youth show, Crib Notes and made a guest appearance on Mzansi Magic telenovela, iNkaba.
In June 2013 Boitumelo Thulo was cast as Mpho Bogatsu on Mzansi Magic new drama series, Rockville, which also stars; Connie Ferguson, Shona Ferguson, Minnie Dlamini and Mbali Mlotshwa.
Also in 2013 she appeared uncredited as an interviewee on Mzansi Magic’s sitcom, Taxi Ride; featured as a commentator on Vuzu celebrity game show, 10 over 10; featured as an online insert presenter on the eighth season of Big Brother Africa.
In April 2014 she was featured as herself along with a host of celebrities on The Comedy Central Roast of Kenny Kunene.
In June 2014 she was part of e.tv documentary reality series, Rolling with: Celeb Edition.
In July 2014 Boitumelo Thulo took part in the seventh season of Strictly Come Dancing South Africa and partnered with professional dancer Ryan Hammond, other celebrity contestants were; Ashish Gangapersad, Donovan Goliath, Janine Davies, John Mametsa, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, Khanyi Mbau, LeAnne Dlamini, Leandie du Randt and Siv Ngesi.
Also in 2014; she quest starred on SABC 1 sitcom, Ses Top La, as herself; starred in the second season of e.tv Reality Check alongside choreographer Somizi Mhlongo and musician Bongani Fassie; guest starred as Trisha on SABC 1’s sitcom, My Perfect Family; appeared on I Love South Africa as a contestant.
Boitumelo Thulo was Nicky Greenwall‘s guest on the second and third season of e.tv Screentime with Nicky Greenwall. She was among the celebrities who presented awards at the 19th and 20th South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
In February 2015 she was announced as the new host of e.tv’s music show, Club 808, and it was later revealed that she will co-host with Cyprian Ndlovu.
Boitumelo Thulo is set to star on the upcoming feature film, Golden Highway, alongside the likes of Dineo Moeketsi, Thapelo Mokoena, Robert Whitehead and Thando Thabethe.

Since the 2008 music video she has played a lead role on Loyiso Bala music video for his song “World of Mine” and played a lead role Khaya Mthethwa’s music video for his hit son “Move”.

In February 2014 Boitumelo Thulo was one of 36 celebrities who posed naked for the Marie Claire Magazine Naked Issue to aid The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a daily meal for orphaned or vulnerable school children in disadvantaged areas around South Africa
“I was very nervous because I am only human and baring your all for a nation to see brings about an enormous sense of vulnerability,” she was quoted by the Citizen.
The pictures of naked celebrities sparked a massive interest online, particularly on Twitter but it was that of Boitumelo Thulo which became a subject of a sustained online dialogue under #BoityReaction and Marie Claire which included celebrities such as Khanya Mkangisa, L’vovo Derrango and Zola Hashatsi.
