Joselyn Canfor- Dumas spent her early childhood in Accra and had her basic education at Morning Star School. She proceeded to the Archbishop Porter Girls High School in the Western Region of Ghana where she became the entertainment prefect. Joselyn furthered her studies in the United States where she pursued to earn a Degree in Administrative Law.
Joselyn is a proud mother whose life is centered around her child. Her believe, “Never stand begging for what you have the power to earn” has been her motivation and driver over the years. She is an ardent reader, loves to travel, admires nature, always make time to keep fit and above all loves God.
Joselyn Dumas was practicing paralegal until she relocated to Ghana to follow her dreams of becoming a Television Personality. She hosted CharterHouse’s Rhythmz, an entertainment show, which saw her interview many celebrities. She was introduced to one of Ghana’s biggest TV networks to host their first own produced flagship talk show, which was aired from 2010 to 2014. She is currently the host for a new TV talk show “@ home with Joselyn Dumas” which is aired across Africa and parts of Europe.
Her role in the movie titled ‘Perfect Picture’, made a lasting impression on the director which led to subsequent key roles in other movies. Her big break came two years later in the Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s movie series Adams Apples. The role of “Jennifer Adams” in Adams Apple got her nominated for Best Actress in a leading role alongside Hollywood actress Kimberly Elise at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards.
Joselyn co-produced Miss Malaika Ghana, one of the most prestigious beauty pageant in Ghana, from 2008 to 2010. She is also the founder and CEO of Virgo Sun Company Limited, a production entity which under her dictatorship, has already co-produced its first movie, “Lover or Something Like That”, endorsed by the UNAIDS. She hopes to produce as well as invest in more television and series programs.
She also featured as the bride in Lynxx hit song “Fine Lady” featuring Wizkid. She has been nominated ten times and won 9 awards from her career from 2011 to 2015.
In 2011, Joselyn Dumas was nominated the Best Actress in a leading role for the Ghana Movie Awards (GMA).
In 2012, she won the Best Entertainment Host of the year for the Radio and Television Personality Awards.
In 2013, she was nominated the Radio/TV Personality of the year, Female Entertainment Host of the year as well as Female Presenter of the year for the Radio and Personality Awards. In that same year, Joselyn Dumas won the 4syte TV Awards as the Hottest Ghanaian Celebrity, Ghana Movie Awards as the Best Supporting Actress and City People Entertainment Awards as the Stellar Contribution to the Movie and Media Industry in Africa, making a tremendous growth in the Movie Industry.
In 2014, she was nominated twice as the Best Actress in a leading role for the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice (AMVC). She also won Two Awards from All Africa Media Networks and Ghana Movie Awards as Outstanding Personality in Creativity Entrepreneurship and Best Actress in a Leading Role respectively that same year.
In 2015, she was nominated Best Actress in a Drama for the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards and won the” GN Bank” Awards as Best Actress and also the Blog Ghana Awards as Best Instagram page.
She believes in giving back to society, especially where Children are much concerned. Her passion for Philanthropic work led to the establishment of the Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation (JCDF) to help address the needs of vulnerable children from all backgrounds and Regions of Ghana. Her foundation is currently undertaking a project with focus on Autism.
