Who Is Jackie Aygemang Appiah?| Biography | Profile| History Of “Ghanian Actress “Jackie Aygemang Appiah” AKA “Auntie Enyonam In YOLO Tv Series”

Enyonam, the mother of Cyril, born Jackie Aygemang Appiah, is a carry-forward character from the previous TV show which led to YOLO, namely, Things we Do for Love.

Considering Jackie Appiah is Jackie Appiah and Enyonam is Jackie Appiah, there’s little talk to do here, as you probably know more about this Ghanaian Actress.

A quick crash storyline tutorial for you about Things we Do for Love would be this:

Once upon a time, a young guy called Shaker (Majid) hunts down ladies, including Enyonam (Jackie Appiah), similar to the ‘chepeteeness’ of Drogba of YOLO. Shaker doesn’t get to ‘shake’ Enyonam eventually. But someone instead does.

Things we Do for Love was primarily about the youth and how they live their lives and go about things in school and at home, with their parents also coming in their way, trying to put them on track so they don’t go astray.

Pusher however is the cool, humble guy Enyonam falls in love with. Things, yeah, ‘things’ go south and Enyonam becomes pregnant with Pusher’s baby.

Fast-forward to YOLO, where Cyril is the ‘unplanned’ kid, and the reason behind the super repulsion force between Pusher and Enyonam.

Enyonam is the single-parent mum who’s gone through enough to raise his baby boy Cyril. She loves his son so well, and tries to be the ninja mum, keeping his boy, both safe as well as guiding him to not fall into bad company.

Auntie Enyonam

Auntie Enyonam is portrayed as the mum who may become overkill in her disciplinary tactics, although sometimes these tactics open new opportunities for his son and the brazen friends of his.

Irene
Irene (Nana Yaa Addo), works for Auntie Enyonam

Heck, Enyonam sent Cyril to visit the grandmother’s village! Indeed, the move which had the intention of disciplining her son turned out to be a playground for Cyril and friends.

Enyonam is well-to-do and owns a high-class boutique in town, a place Drogba frequents as you are assured of many ‘goodness’ in the form of beautiful ladies. Her boutique is enough hunting grounds for Drogba.

Auntie Enyonam represents the typical Ghanaian mother today. Raising a young, smart and handsome boy like Cyril comes with many challenges, especially relating to reproductive health issues.

However, one yet-to-be-determined catch within the YOLO storyline is when and how Cyril’s father is accepted back into the life of Enyonam. As it stands at the time of writing (Season03 Episode02), the eyes of Pusher and Enyonam do not meet, and should they meet, well, you guessed right, Commotion!

Jackie Appiah remains one of the high-ranking cast of the YOLO series. Indeed, some years ago when Things we Do for Love aired, who knew Jackie would rise to become a star? So generous of her to have continued the role she started, although her cast in this series is negligible to her big screen appearances.

Kudos to Enyonam for continuing to be the Enyonam we all know!

Lagos State Government give reasons for the Tragic flood in Lekki, VI, Ikoyi, Lagos Island

The Lagos state government has released a statement on the flood that ravaged some parts of the state particularly Lekki, VI and Lagos Island. According to the statement, blocked drainages caused by indiscriminate dumping of refuse is a major cause of the flood. The statement also adds that the Lagoon which is supposed to receive all the rain water is currently swollen. Read the statement below:

Lagos State Government on Sunday urged residents to remain calm and vigilant in the wake of the torrential rain experienced in the State in the last few days. State’s Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, who spoke after inspecting areas affected by the flood in the State, allayed fears of residents, assuring that the Government has activated its emergency response system to respond efficiently where necessary. He said most of the flooding would recede after a period of time, attributing the cause to the high tide of the lagoon, slowing down the flow of rainfall water from drainage channels.

“We are on top of the situation. The Government is concerned by the recent occurrence of flooding in some parts of Victoria Island, Lekki, Oniru and its environs and our emergency lines 112 and 767 are open 24/7 for residents to report any emergency situation,” he said.

But more importantly, the Commissioner urged residents in the habit of dumping refuse indiscriminately especially in drainage channels to stop forthwith, saying that engaging in such does not only portend health hazards, but could also lead to loss of lives and property. He said dumping refuse in drainages meant to take flood water to the lagoon, blocks such channels and as such had dire consequences that could lead to loss of lives and properties.

Adejare also expressed concerns that despite the vigorous campaign by the Government on the dangers of dumping refuse indiscriminately, some people still engage in such act.

“The lagoon is swollen up, there is high tide, so it would lock on our outfalls, the water would not recede or go into the lagoon as fast as it used to be, so that’s one of the main reason why we are having flooding all over the place and coupled with our own man made problems such as people blocking the drainage channels, people even building on drainage channels, that’s what has also been causing all these problems.

“That is a criminal thing to do, it is not good, their actions can lead to loss of lives and definitely to damage of properties, so they should stop it because it would affect some people adversely. You do not need to dump refuse in drainages, eventually we would come to pick them up and with our improved services through the reforms that we are carrying out, there would not be anything like that, we would be evacuating solid waste faster than we have done,” Adejare said. He said that the Government was concerned about the safety of residents, hence the continuous call on those living in flood-prone areas to relocate temporarily pending when the rain recedes.

“Like we have been telling them, if the rain still persist, please don’t go out of your homes, except you are living by the coast or by the low line. If you are one of those, you have to move upland, move away from the coast until the rain recedes. But if you are living upland and it’s raining persistently and it’s not necessary or compulsory for you to go out, please stay indoors. If you also have contact with flood water, wash your hands always, whatever has been touched by the flood water should not be eaten, it’s important,” Adejare said.

The Commissioner also assured residents that the ongoing reforms in the environment sector through the Cleaner Lagos Initiative would evolve a viable solid waste management system which would make the State cleaner and healthy for residents.

“This is a transition period, most importantly it’s not that the reforms have taken so long, you need to plan very well so that you don’t plan to fail. We are making sure that when we start, we don’t hope to fail, we hope to give our people a world class service in solid waste management, that’s what we are planning for and we need to take our time to do that and give Lagosians good service. It would commence, it would succeed and it would give us a better way of managing our solid waste here”, he said. He however urged residents to continue to maintain a high level of cleanliness, especially in disposing their refuse, while assuring that the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration would not relent in its efforts until it achieves a cleaner Lagos.

“I want to tell our people, no pain, no gain. To embark on any kind of reform is always very tedious, as a government the priority is to see these reforms through and to make our people live better. Our refuse should not be a disgrace to us, it should be a resource and that’s what we intend to pursue,” Adejare said.

Recently elected Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu popularly known Bibi Wine, is set to swear in on Tuesday afternoon during the plenary sitting of the House.

As he makes his official entry into the August house, the musician turned politician is being courted by both sides of the house, the ruling NRM party and the opposition, to work with them by signing a memorandum of understanding with either of them.

Kyagulanyi insists he is an independent MP whose interests are in serving the people of Kyadondo East and he has little interest in aligning himself with either side. The man who was previously held the moniker of “Ghetto president” says he is not up for sale in Parliament.

However, the new MP added that he is open to cooperating with both NRM and the Opposition on matters of national interest and development.

Last week, while at the vigil of deceased former Democratic President Ssebaana Kizito at his home in Kansanga, Kampala, Kyagulanyi shock hands with President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the NRM party chairman. Some of his supporters did not take kindly to this gesture and protested on social media.

But Kyagulanyi says as a civil man, he had to show r spect to the country’s chief executive officer and fountain on  honour.

Kyagulanyi has invited his former opponents to the celebration as a sign that he wants to work with them to develop the constituency.

Kyagulanyi insists he is an independent MP whose interests are in serving the people of Kyadondo East and he has little interest in aligning himself with either NRM or the opposition.

Bobi Wine  Biography

Bobi Wine was born on the 12th of February in 1982 in Mpigi District south west of Kampala capital. He had a TV reality show dubbed Ghetto President Reality Tv show that was all about caring for his children. This made him be appointed as the parenting ambassador by ‘Twaweza’

Bobi Wine  Education

His problems taught him innovation. He would spread the word and after school charge students fifty shillings (less than quarter a dollar) per head and he would jam! He got into trouble with the school administration but that was the way he made his pocket money at school.

By the end of his ‘O’ level he had composed many songs but had no money to record. It was one of the most disheartening things in his pursuit of his musical dream.
In ’98 after his ‘A’ level, he finally saved some money over the years to record and managed to make four tracks; Kalyonso, Doreen, Namulembe but they were of very low quality. They therefore did not receive any credit or attention. That didn’t faze him. He increased his intensity of odd jobs like collecting edible grasshoppers for sale in his vacation.

Bobi Wine  Music Journey

Bobi Wine started making music in the early 2000s. His first singles were Akagoma, Funtula, and Sunda (featuring Ziggy D), which brought Wine into the limelight. He was previously part of the group Fire Base Crew. Later he formed a new group, Ghetto Republic of Uganja, which he leads

Then he tried his luck again in 2000, and recorded Abakyala, this didn’t do well either. By then he was in his first year in Makerere University and made mud bricks during his free time. He also did painting, while he was a porter at a building site.
“I wasn’t afraid of my friends disrespecting me because they understood my situation. Besides I am not after giving a false impression of myself so I could go work and perform at occasions like Karaoke in nightspots around the city.”
Then finally, the chance to record again came and Bobi managed to record his song “Akagoma” meaning ‘the drum’.

He had to do it within thirty minutes because he was in through backdoor connections. And when thirty minutes was up he was kicked out. I thank those guys.” This song later became a hit and played on radio and nightclubs around the country. Finally Bobi Wine got room to breathe.

He loves the reggae/dancehall style because he feels, that’s the best way he can express himself. And also it is the best medium to communicate content and message. It is because he has something to say and that’s the best medium for it. It is music for his people, the poor where he comes from. Artists like Buju Banton, Bennie Man, Sizzla, Shabba, Bob Marley and Bounty Killer are the major inspirations for his music.
He is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in music dance and drama at the prestigious Makerere University, the biggest University in East and Central Africa. Bobi Wine’s repertoire includes albums like ‘Kagoma, Namulime, Wendi, Bada, Kiwani Mazimawanvu to mention but a few.

From nothing in the 1998’s when he began his career to the biggest artist in Uganda today. Bobi Wine is the holder of 3 PAM Awards including Artist of the year 2006.
Bobi Wine has performed in Sweden, England, USA, South Africa and all over East Africa. He has also been featured on almost every major concert in Uganda including concerts featuring international artists like T.O.K, Shaggy, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Sean Paul, Buju Banton. With his crew, the Firebase, which includes himself the president, Buchaman the vice president, Nubian lee the prime minister, and the rest of the cabinet.

He now owns a stuido where all the Fire Base music is recorded now.
Bobi Wine is currently venturing into movies and recently starred in a movie carrying the same title as one of his latest hits ‘Ghetto /Divizionz’ and the movie has won awards all over the world . He has also gone into boxing proffesionally that he recentlly won a fight by a OK. As a socially responsible person, he supports his community whenever he has an opportunity and in his own words, he says “Bobi Wine is a good ghetto youth ready to help the ghetto people and I thank God for everything he has done for me, my wife and for giving me a beautiful Children”.

Bobi Wine Philanthropy

In July 2012, Bobi Wine started a campaign to promote more regular cleaning in hospitals, and more attention to sanitization, garbage management, and hand washing to prevent disease. A YouTube video from September 2012 shows Bobi joining Kampala mayor Elias Lukwago in cleaning up Kamwokya, the slum neighbourhood where he grew up.

Also in 2012, Bobi donated funds to build pit latrines and construct a drainage channel in Kisenyi II, a Kampala slum that New Vision, a major local newspaper, described as being “characterized by filth, crowded shanty structures, poor sanitation and lack of basic social facilities.” The newspaper quoted Wine as explaining “I am doing this because these are my people, and no matter where I go, this will always be home.”

He has also campaigned for malaria prevention, with donations to the Nakasongola Health Centre, and reference to the disease in his songs. “Malaria is more dangerous than Al-Shabab” became a popular refrain in one of his 2010 songs.

He visited the Bundibugyo Refugee Camp in Rwenzori region in August 2013, along with representatives from Save the Children , UNHCR and the Red Cross to deliver funds and supplies. The same year, Bobi was appointed Parenting Ambassador by Twaweza, a NGO that focuses on education and citizen engagement in East Africa; his message in this partnership was to promote responsible parenting among his Ugandan fans. “Education is what will ultimately change the course of our country and as an artiste and a father, I believe we can all make a difference in our children’s learning,” he said.

In November 2013, he held what local media reported to be Uganda’s first large-scale free entry album launch concert, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, a very large venue, where donations were collected by the Red Cross for victims of landslides in Bududa in Eastern Uganda.

In 2014, Bobi Wine was appointed a Save the Children Ambassador for their EVERY ONE Campaign, and joined a team of 14 Ugandan artists who recorded a special song and video about maternal and child health. Other leading Uganda artists in the video included Jose Chameleone, and Radio and Weasel, who make up the Goodlyfe Crew. Bobi and his wife Barbie (Kyagulanyi Barbie Itungo) traveled to hospitals throughout Uganda – including Nakaseke Hospital, meeting with midwives and health workers, to popularize the campaign. Save the Children also took Bobi to other regions with the EVERY ONE Campaign, including a refugee camp for South Sudanese.

Bobi Wine Family

Bobi married his long-time partner Barbie Itungo, whom he met at Makerere University, in August 2011. Together they have four children: Solomon Kampala Nyanzi, Shalom Namagembe, Shadraq Shilling Mbogo and one due in August, 2015.

She was already popular as a TV personality before she married crown Prince Felipe in 2004 following a completely secret relationship that only became public information after their surprise engagement was announced in 2003…

Letizia, 44 is the granddaughter of a taxi-driver and the daughter of a journalist and a nurse. She first met the prince at a colleague’s dinner party in 2002. At the time, she was a well-recognised television presenter and reporter who covered events such as the Iraq War and 9/11. She had worked at various newspapers, as well at Bloomberg, CNN+ and Spain’s state TV company Television Espanola.

Letizia had been married before to a teacher in 1998. Their marriage only lasted for a year. The fact that she was a divorcee led to criticism from hardline monarchists when they shocked the country with their engagement news.

Prior to that, no one even knew Prince Felipe had a girlfriend. She made headlines when she told Felipe in public to shut up during her engagement photocall. “Let me finish,” she said, smiling, in front of the cameras. Since then, she has become quite popular with the public for her down-to-earth approach. Queen Letizia and King Felipe have two beautiful daughters, Leonor and Sofia.

The King and Queen of Spain will arrive in London today for a three-day state visit and will be formally greeted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on Horse Guards Parade on Wednesday

A 47-year-old AirBnB landlord is facing attempted murder charges after a video emerged of him pushing a tourist down a flight of stairs. Footage showing South African filmmaker Sibahle Steve Nkumbi falling head first down a steep staircase appeared on social media. The shocking incident came after an argument prompted by Ms Nkumbi and three friends arriving late for their check-out time.

The footage shows the man shouting ‘out, out’ as he chucks the clothes and suitcases of the women out of the flat and down the stairs. But then the landlord angrily shouts ‘out now’ and can be seen pushing Ms Nkumbi, down the steep staircase. She hit ground hard and seems to hit the wall and the floor with her face, and then remains motionless.

The video then shows the landlord walking down the stairs and calling for someone to call an ambulance, ostensibly realising to his own horror what he has just done. ‘He was like open up open up open up and then she opened and this guy was extremely emotional… I asked him why he was being so emotional, we are leaving.’

Ms Nkumbi said the man then became ‘verbally abusive’ and said ‘you need to leave now, this is not Africa’. The filmmaker said when she tried to leave, her attacker ‘couldn’t resist’ the opportunity to grab her. ‘The way he grabbed me, I knew he was going to throw me down there. I freaked out. As I’m resisting against the wall, he’s trying to get me to his position and eventually I lost grip of the wall because it’s a wall, there’s nothing to hold on to. That’s when I flew down, all the way down.’ Showing off her bruises under her arms from where he allegedly grabbed her, the filmmaker, who has concussion, added: ‘The last thing I remember was when I realised he was going to throw me down there. Flying down the stairs, I don’t remember, I passed out and woke up in hospital.’

Prosecutors were considering a charge of attempted murder but were still studying the facts, an official from the prosecutors office told Reuters. Airbnb chief executive Brian Chesky would contact the guests involved, the company said in a statement. ‘Appalling and unconscionable behaviour against members of our community runs counter to everything Airbnb stands for,’ David King, an Airbnb official said. ‘We will take the strongest actions we can against such abhorrent conduct, including banning people for life from our platform and assisting law enforcement with their investigation and potential prosecution. Nobody should ever be treated like this and it will not be tolerated.

A South African filmmaker, Sibahle Nkumbi, was hospitalized after she was pushed down the stairs by an enraged Airbnb landlord in Amsterdam. Nkumbi who is studying in Switzerland, was in Amsterdam to write an article about an art exhibit.

Narrating what happened, she said that she and her companions were running late in moving out of the rented apartment and their landlady came demanding they pack up their belongings and get out.

“She stated that this is not acceptable, you guys need to pack and leave now. And I was like, “Yes, give us a few minutes to pack”. I apologized for us being late and stated that we are getting ready to leave. She came back a few minutes later with the husband and he was banging the door and extremely emotional.”

Nkumbi claims she asked him why he was being so emotional, that they were about to leave. He however became abusive and said; ‘you people’ and ‘this in not Africa.’ Seeing how ‘emotional’ he was, she tried to leave quickly, thinking he would move out of the way to let her through.
‘When I got close enough to him, he couldn’t resist the opportunity to grab me, and the way he grabbed me… I knew that he was gonna throw me down there,’ Nkumb recounted, also adding: ‘As I’m resisting against the wall, he’s trying to get me to his position and eventually I lost grip of the wall because it’s a wall, there’s nothing to hold on to. That’s when I flew down, all the way down.’

She hit the ground hard and was motionless.

‘Flying down the stairs, I don’t remember, I passed out and woke up in hospital,’ Nkumbi said.

Realising what he did, a video shows that the landlord quickly walked down the stairs and called for someone to call an ambulance.

Nkumbi suffered a concussion and was bruised from the incident. She now wants the landlord held legally responsible for what happened to her, although she is skeptical it will ever happen. The filmmaker acknowledged that she and her friends were late to check out but insisted that she did nothing to deserve being treated in such a brutal manner. She insists that had she been white, things would have turned out differently.

Prosecutors were considering a charge of attempted murder but are still studying the facts. An Airbnb official released a statement for the company, which reads;

‘Appalling and unconscionable behavior against members of our community runs counter to everything Airbnb stands for. We will take the strongest actions we can against such abhorrent conduct, including banning people for life from our platform and assisting law enforcement with their investigation and potential prosecution.  Nobody should ever be treated like this and it will not be tolerated.’
